Much is talked about ticket pricing for live music, and associated booking fees, so I thought it would be worth taking a moment to talk about our ticket pricing.

As part of the Glossop Creative Trust, our number one motivation for putting on gigs is to “Support the Musical Creativity of Glossop” and to give people access to great high quality ORIGINAL music.

There is much talk in press at the moment about the struggle facing small music venues, but there is fantastic talent in the both the town and the surrounding region. Our sole aim is to give this talent a platform and to allow audiences to enjoy their performances.

In doing this we have a few priorities:

  1. We pay all of the artists who put on shows for us, both main and support
  2. We pay full price for venue hire supporting the Partington Theatre & other venues we use
  3. We use professional sound engineers and pay them.
  4. We pretty much don’t pay anyone else – All the booking, marketing, admin, promotion etc is done by volunteers.

All of this costs money, so we have to charge for tickets. But you can be sure:

  1. We always keep ticket prices as low as possible
  2. We always make a number of tickets available a nominal price of £1. These are for those individuals for  whom the ticket price would be a barrier to coming along, as we are keen not to exclude anyone purely on the basis of finances (Note – These will normally be made available around 4 weeks prior to the event).
  3. We sell all our tickets through Whatshatsoninglossop.com so all booking fees go directly supporting the costs of this site and the creative scene in Glossop.

Finally, whilst we rarely make a surplus on our gigs, where we do, through the Glossop Creative Trust these surpluses go back into supporting other creativity in the town.

Whist charging for Gigs in inevitable, you can be sure that by coming along to our events, you will not only have a great time but can also be sure that you are supporting our great local talent.
